In 1999, Chick Frodigh & Susan Frodigh started the New England Longboard Classic (NELC) Surf Contest to give back to the sport of surfing, provide a day of fun to the local community, and kick off the summer right. Since then, it has become an annual tradition to gather for a fun day at the beach with friends both new and old.
In 2018, their children - Charlie Frodigh & Katie Frodigh Falvey - helped take on a more hands-on role running event operations as directors.
It's hard to believe it's been A QUARTER CENTURY of NELC fun, and you better believe there's no end to the tradition in sight!
Directly following the contest, we always reconvene for a local afterparty with live music, awards / prizes, trivia, delicious food, and a silent auction table (the proceeds of which go to three great 501(c)(3) non-profits).
This is a family-friendly, low-key, non-ego-motivated gathering of friends old & new to ride longboards (in whatever waves are breaking that day) for good fun!
No Pressure – Just Stoke!
